Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT TIME CAN WE CHECK IN?
Check-in is strictly from 2pm onwards. This gives us just enough time to get the unit sparkling clean before you check-in. Please do not arrive early, as we (and we are sure you) prefer not to rush the cleaning process. Myself, Maryke, will be around to welcome you. If I am not here, I will do my utmost to notify you in advance. Check-out is before 10am on the morning of your departure.
CAN A NORMAL SEDAN CAR DRIVE THE ROADS TO THE GOODLAND?
Yes, the roads to and from The Goodland are tarred & can be traversed with a normal sedan car. It is however not advisable to travel with low-profile sports car because of the general state of the roads.
CAN I BRING MY DOGS ALONG?
We have two pet-friendly units at The Goodland, namely Honey Cottage and Cottage Two. Both of these are completely fenced. We prefer not to have more that two pets in Honey Cottage as the fenced area is rather small. A surcharge is applicable per pet. Additional terms and conditions apply when you bring pet/s.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
The Goodland provides all linen, bedding, blankets, towels, dishwashing liquid, soap for the shower & toilet paper.
Bring your own firewood and charcoal. Also swimming towels - the pool is open to use for all guests. Each cottage has a Nespresso machine for which we provide coffee pods for the first day, please bring your own for the remainder of your stay if you enjoy this type of coffee.
ARE THE COTTAGES SERVICED?
No, the cottages are not serviced daily - this can be included at an extra charge, please enquire in advance.
IS THE WATER SAVE TO DRINK?
Yes, the borehole water in cottages is completely save and of excellent quality - recent test results available at request.
DO THE COTTAGES HAVE FIREPLACES?
All our units have super cozy fireplaces. We supply the first batch of firewood. Please bring more and very important, please also bring firelighters.
HOW IS THE WEATHER IN THE BERG? WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
In summer, temperatures can be high during the day but often drop at night, so pack warm clothes as well as winter gear. In winter the days and night are cold, and can get very cold. The weather also tends to change at the drop of a hat, so rather come prepared.
DO YOU HAVE A RESTAURANT ON THE PROPERTY OR CATER FOR ANY MEALS?
The Goodland is completely self-catering & all cottages have a kitchen (with - but not limited to - cutlery, crockery, basic pots & pans, utensils, 4-plate stove & oven, microwave & toaster. Each cottage has a braai on the verandah). Each cottage also has complimentary free-range eggs (seasonal), starter tea and coffee. There is no restaurant on the property but The Valley has many wonderful options.
